A Temporary Iteration, Birch ply wood Scalenohedron Structures, Projection Mapped Video and Soundscape. Dimensions Variable, each wooden compoent 60cm x 40cm x 40cm. Solo Exhibition curated by Miguel Amado. Installation View, SIRIUS, 2022.
A Temporary Iteration combines sculpture, moving image, and sound. Wooden elements built to replicate the shape of a scalenohedron[1], are assembled akin to a terrain and become individual and collective screens for moving image, activated by projection mapping technology. The assemblage momentarily holds footage of dynamic landmasses; organic matter such as earth, grass, and flowers; a rewilded quarry; and the accumulated mountains of raw and unprocessed waste at Gannon Eco, a waste repurposing plant where I have been in residence for site specific research since 2021. This work was supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
[1] A scalenohedron is a geological crystal form defined as a polyhedron having twelve sides, each in the form of a scalene triangle, that is topologically equivalent to a hexagonal bipyramid and whose middle section can be said to inscribe a rhombohedron. This form is an enlargement of crystal formation the mineral calcite.
